SwamiRam Sadhna Mandir Ashram

On the way from Koel Ghati to Virbhadra, a few steps away from the barrage, there is Sadhna Mandir, an ashram connected to Baba Kalikamli Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya. This ashram was established by the great Yogi Swamiram ji in 1966. This ashram is operated by a trust, Sadhna Mandir Ashram Trust. Swamiji was a Sanyasi of the Bharati tradition of Sanyasa tradition. His sannyasa name was Sadashiv Bharti, but Swamiji used to write his name as Swamiram everywhere. His guru used to call him Ram. Swamiram ji has also been decorated with the post of Shakaracharya, the highest post of the Indian Sanyas tradition. He was holding the post of Shakaracharya in Karveer Peeth of Karnataka. During his tenure as Shankaracharya, it was due to his tireless efforts that the evil practice like Devadasi came to an end. Swamiji had his higher education at Oxford University in London and the University of California, America. Swami ji had also obtained the degree of Doctor in Homeopathy in Germany.

Swamiji was an internationally renowned great yogi, psychologist, philosopher, spiritual guru, social reformer, and scientist. Swami ji was also a high-class writer and poet. Swami ji has written many books on psychology, philosophy, yoga and other scientific subjects. All his original writings are in English and almost all his books have been published in America. Swami ji was originally a resident of Toli village located near Landsdowne in Garhwal region. Most of his life was spent in the Himalayas with his Guru Maharaj, hence Swami ji had a special attachment to the Himalayas.

Swami ji realized that there is a complete lack of medical facilities in the Garhwal region. Therefore, in 1995, Swami ji built a huge hospital, Himalayan Hospital, equipped with all modern facilities and technology, at the Jolly Grant salt place in Dehradun district and also built a medical college (it was the first private medical college in Uttar Pradesh). This medical college has now become a university. Whose name is Swamiram Himalayan University. Himalayan Hospital is the largest hospital in Uttarakhand. There is no other private or government hospital bigger than this hospital in Uttarakhand.

स्वामीराम साधना मंदिर आश्रम

कोयल घाटी से वीरभद्र जाने के रास्ते में बैराज से चंद कदम की दूरी पर बाबा कालीकमली संस्कृत महाविद्यालय से जुड़ा आश्रम साधना मंदिर है।इस आश्रम का शांत और सौम्य वातावरण साधना के लिए सर्वोत्तम है। इस आश्रम की स्थापना महान योगी स्वामीराम जी ने १९६६ में करवाई थी। इस आश्रम का सञ्चालन एक ट्रस्ट साधना मंदिर आश्रम ट्रस्ट द्वारा किया जाता है।  स्वामी जी सन्यास परंपरा की भारती परम्परा के सन्यासी थे। इनका सन्यास का नाम सदाशिव भारती था, परन्तु स्वामी जी सभी जगह अपना नाम स्वामीराम ही लिखते थे।  इनके गुरु इन्हे राम नाम से पुकारते थे। स्वामीराम जी भारतीय सन्यास परंपरा के सर्वोच्च पद शकराचार्य के पद को भी सुशोभित कर चुके हैं। ये कर्नाटक की करवीर पीठ में शकराचार्य के पद पर आसीन थे। इनके शंकराचार्य के कार्यकाल में इन्ही के अथक प्रयासों से देवदासी जैसी कुप्रथा का अंत हुआ था। स्वामी जी की उच्च शिक्षा लन्दन के ऑक्सफ़ोर्ड विश्वद्यालय तथा अमेरिका के  कैलिफ़ोर्निया विश्वद्यालय में हुयी थी। स्वामी जी ने जर्मनी होमियोपैथी में डॉक्टर की उपाधि भी प्राप्त की थी।

स्वामी जी एक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ख्याति प्राप्त महान योगी, मनोवैज्ञानिक, दार्शनिक, आध्यात्मिक गुरू, समाजसुधारक, एवं वैज्ञानिक थे। स्वामी जी एक उच्चकोटि के लेखक और कवि  भी थे। स्वामी जी ने मनोविज्ञान, दर्शन, योग एवं अन्य वैज्ञानिक विषयों पर अनेकानेक पुस्तकें लिखीं हैं। इनका सारा मूल लेखन अंग्रेजी में है तथा लगभग सभी पुस्तकों का प्रकाशन अमेरिका में ही हुआ है। स्वामी जी मूल रूप से गढ़वाल क्षेत्र के लैंड्सडौन के पास स्थित तोली ग्राम के निवासी थे।  इनके जीवन का अधिकतर समय अपने गुरु महाराज के साथ हिमालय में व्यतीत हुआ था, इसलिए सवामी जी को हिमालय से विशेष लगाव था।

स्वामी जी ने अनुभव किया की गढ़वाल क्षेत्र में मेडिकल सुविधाओं का नितांत आभाव है। इसलिए स्वामी जी ने १९९५ में देहरादून जिले के जॉली ग्रांट नमक स्थान पर सभी आधुनिक सुविधाओं और तकनीक से सुसज्जित एक विशाल अस्पताल हिमालयन अस्पताल का निर्माण कराया साथ की एक मेडिकल कॉलेज का भी निर्माण कराया (यह उत्तर प्रदेश का पहला निजी मेडिकल कॉलेज था) ।  यह मेडिकल कॉलेज अब एक विश्वविद्यालय बन गया है। जिसका नाम स्वामीराम हिमालयन विश्वविद्यालय है। हिमालयन अस्पताल उत्तराखंड का सबसे बड़ा अस्पताल है। उत्तराखंड में इस अस्पताल से बड़ा कोई दूसरा निजी और सरकारी अस्पताल नहीं है।
